make a statement with this beautiful Amethyst (2.5cm x 1.5 cm).  Set in Argentium Fine Silver, accented with oxidized Balls circling the stone. This really brings out the color of the purple.  The stone has very faint white streaks in it from the original crystal piece it was cut from (being a Chevron crystal).

The presence of manganese in clear Quartz produces Amethyst, while additional amounts of iron vary the purple coloration. It ranges in hue from pale red-violet to deep violet and may be transparent or opaque. In addition, it is sometimes layered with white Quartz as Chevron Amethyst, found in combination with Cacoxenite, mixed with Citrine as Ametrine, or in rare cases, “rutilated” with Goethite.

Throughout history, the special virtue of Amethyst has been that of preventing drunkenness and overindulgence. Ancient Greeks and Romans routinely studded their goblets with Amethyst believing that wine drunk from an Amethyst cup would not lead to intoxication.

  • Argentium Silver is known for being brighter whiter, tarnish, fire-scale resistant and hypoallergenic!  It is NOT a Sterling Silver.  Argentium is purer than sterling, and more durable.  It is a Fine Silver.  A lot of people get this wrong or confuse Argentium with Sterling Silver.  We proudly mark all our silver with the Winged Unicorn; the logo of Argentium International Fine Silver.
